I am back home in the USA. I have been busy knitting, crocheting, making blueberry syrup, blueberry cobbler, blueberry muffins, blueberry you name it I have been making it. We had a really good crop of low bush blueberries this year.
The blueberry syrup I used can be found at http://www.simplebites.net/ I reduced the amount of sugar as our berries were very sweet this year. The recipe is easy and produces a very yummy syrup.
Pink Baby Blanket
I took apart the pink baby blanket I was making. It just looked to masculine for a little girl. I made the Pretty Feather And Fan blanket, on page 56 of Leisure Arts, our best KNIT BABY AFGHANS. If you get a chance to see this book, stop and have a look or better yet, buy it. It has some very pretty baby afghans.

Why Travelling Threads
Travelling: Because I am an Overlander, as such, I am travelling all over the world in a camper.
Threads: Because I like doing just about any craft that involves needle, thread and yarn.
Knitting:
I seem to enjoy knitting more than anything else and at the moment it's more practical than say quilting. I quilt when I am back home in Maine, which isn't very often and it is usually for short periods of time.
I am not an expert knitter but I love the process and I love the feel and sight of beautiful yarn. I have limited space in our camper but yet I still seem to manage to squeeze one more skein (just one more skein please!) into my allotted space.
I don't use acrylic very often but they are making more and more pretty acrylics that are getting softer and softer. I still love my Debbie Bliss and Sublime yarns and I buy those whenever I can get them.
I like making cowls, scarves, hats, and baby things. I have just finished a cowl. One skein is 100% extra fine merino wool (the lighter color, shade 0006) and one skein 75% merino wool, 20% chasmere and 5% silk (shade 0056). The yarn is made by Sublime and the colors are numbers. I think it is so sad that such beautiful yarn is given a number and not a name. Anyway, I cast on 225 stitches on a number 7 (4 1/2mm) circular needle. I don't like garter stitch and I almost never use it. However, this yarn, I think, looks really nice in garter stitch. The cowl is 22 1/2 inches long, 45 inches around and 4 inches wide.
I am working on another cowl in seed stitch and the yarn is a Sublime baby cotton kapok dk, shade 0150, 85% cotton and 15% kapok, on number 6 (4mm) circular needle. I'm not sure yet, how wide I am going to make the cowl, but I think I am going to use only two balls. Each ball is 50g. I'll post a photo when it is finished.
I am also working on a baby blanket for a friend. I am very pleased and excited to be making one for her as she has tried for 17 years to get pregnant! She and her husband adopted a little boy about 6 years ago and now she is having a little girl!
It isn't easy finding really good wool here in South Africa and when you do find it it is very expensive. I managed to get 100% pure new wool and it is nice and soft. It's a dusty rose color and is made by Elle. The number is 004 and they call it light pink....I still think dusty rose best describes the color.
The pattern is free from Caron. The pattern is called Little Boy Blue Baby Blanket. This is my first time at making cables and it was a little intimidating at first, but I am finally getting the hang of it.

My husband gave me a surprise gift of visiting Tenikwa Wildlife Awareness Centre in Plettenberg Bay, South Africa. I got to visit a host of wild cats in their enclosure but the best was being able to take a cheetah for a walk!!
